Penn State tight end Brenton was selected No. 61 overall on Friday night in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars giving Penn State a second player selected so far this year following cornerback Joey Porter Jr. who was selected as the first pick in the second round by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday evening.
Strange is the 21st tight end in program history to be drafted and the fourth under head coach James Franklin joining the trio of Jesse James, Mike Gesicki and Pat Freiermuth to have heard their names called in recent years. All three have or are continuing to start in the NFL to this day.
Strange leaves Penn State to join the Jaguars and rising star quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Strange finished his collegiate career having made 70 receptions over the span of his four year career making a career-high 32 receptions and five touchdowns in 2022. Strange scored 11 total career touchdowns while pulling 755 receiving yards in 37 appearances for Penn State over the course of his time in State College.
Strange is the 16th player to be drafted in the first two rounds under head coach James Franklin since his arrival at Penn State.
