Penn State offensive tackle Olu Fashanu was named a first-team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation on Friday night. The honor marks Penn State’s 102nd first-team All-American in school history by an NCAA recognized outlet and the Nittany Lions’ first first-team selection since linebacker Micah Parsons in 2019.
Fashanu is Penn State’s first offensive lineman to be selected first-team All-America since Stefan Wisniewski in 2010 and first offensive lineman to earn All-America honors in back-to-back seasons since Levi Brown was a second-team selection in 2005 and 2006. Additionally, Fashanu was voted the Rimington-Pace Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year while also picking up first-team All-Big Ten honors from coaches and media.
The Rimington-Pace Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year and consensus first-team All-Big Ten selection is widely expected to be a first-round choice in the upcoming NFL Draft, if not a top 10 selection. As of Friday night Fashanu has not announced any intentions not to play in Penn State’s upcoming appearance in the Peach Bowl. Technically with one season of eligibility remaining Fashanu has not yet declared for the NFL Draft but the anticipation is that he will do so. Teammates Theo Johnson and Chop Robinson have both already declared for the draft with Johnson set to play in the bowl game while Robinson will skip Penn State’s postseason appearance.
