Penn State football is holding steady at the No. 7 spot in the latest AP Top 25 following the first full week of college football.

The Nittany Lions opened the season with a 38-15 win over West Virginia during a long weekend that saw two teams fall from the top 10. Clemson fell from No. 9 to No. 25 after losing 28-7 to Duke on Monday night, while the Blue Devils entered the top 25 at No. 21. Florida State moved from No. 8 to No. 4 after a commanding 45-24 over LSU, which dropped from No. 5 to No. 14.

Michigan continued to lead Big Ten teams at No. 2 behind top-ranked Georgia, while Ohio State dropped two spots to No. 5 following a fairly uninspiring performance against Indiana. Alabama rounded out the top five at No. 3, moving up one spot from last week.

Elsewhere in the Big Ten, Wisconsin sits at No. 19 as the fourth conference team in the Top 25 and the only outside of the top 10. Future Big Ten members USC and Washington bracketed Penn State at the No. 6 and No. 8 spots, respectively, and Oregon moved up two places to No. 13.

Iowa is the top team receiving votes outside the top 25, followed by future Big Ten member UCLA, with current conference teams Minnesota and Illinois also receiving votes.

Next up for Penn State is a home clash with Delaware at noon on Saturday, which will be streamed exclusively on Peacock. The Nittany Lions are set to open Big Ten play in two weeks with a road trip to Illinois, which beat Toledo on a last second field goal this past weekend.
