Marcus Blaze, the No. 1 ranked wrestling recruit in the 2025 class according to Flo Wrestling and the No. 3 recruit according to MatScouts, committed to Penn State early Wednesday morning.
Blaze, from Perrysburg, Ohio, has already made quite an impression in the world of wrestling, hauling in accolades such as a U17 world title in 2023, a U20 silver medal earlier this year, and a third-place finish at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials at 57 kg just a few short months ago, all before his senior year of high school. He has wins over Daton Fix, Matt Ramos, Nashon Garret and Seth Gross so far in his young career.
The three-time Ohio Division I state champion boasts an overall record of 157-2, wrestling his most recent season at 132 pounds. Blaze joins No. 2 ranked P.J. Duke, No. 8 William Henckel, No. 18 Nate Desmond, and No. 33 Dalton Perry in the Nittany Lions’ 2025 recruiting class.
Blaze chose Penn State over Ohio State and Purdue.
