Penn State wrestler Carter Starocci has a new NIL venture that will follow his quest for an unprecedented fifth national title and spotlight some local eateries.

The Happy Valley Adventure Bureau (HVAB), Centre County’s tourism agency, has partnered with Starocci for “Carter’s Drive & Dine for Five,” a YouTube and social media series that will chronicle his “wrestling goals competing at a higher weight class as he and special guests dine at some of Happy Valley’s most popular restaurants,” according to a news release.

The series will roll out on HVAB’s YouTube and social media channels “later this month,” a bureau spokesperson said.

Starocci became the sixth wrestler in NCAA history to win four national titles when he captured the 174 pound crown in March. Using an extra year of eligibility granted to student-athletes because of COVID disruptions in 2020, Starocci is returning in 2024-25 for a shot at a record fifth championship and is expected to move up to 184 pounds.

“On a mission to make history once again,” Starocci said in a statement. “The vision is clear, and I’m locked in on leaving an unforgettable legacy in State College. This season is a chance to share that journey with you, thanks to The Happy Valley Adventure Bureau. It’s going to be an epic season, and I can’t wait to have you guys along for the ride.”

For HVAB, the partnership with Starocci is part of a marketing strategy to work with student-athletes in the name, image and likeness era.

The series captures Starocci’s “winning personality” and dedication to competing at an elite level, while showcasing Centre County’s culinary scene and talented chefs, Fritz Smith, HVAB president and CEO, said.

“We are thrilled to be part of his journey in pursuing wrestling greatness, and delighted that the county’s dynamic dining scene is helping to fuel his performance,” Smith said.

“We look forward to this series generating greater appreciation for Carter’s pursuit and for Happy Valley as a dining destination. It’s a win-win partnership.”

HVAB plans to announce another high-profile campaign with student-athletes later in September.
