Penn State Wrestling’s Aaron Brooks Wins U23 World Championship

The excellence of Penn State wrestling continues on the world stage.

Three-time NCAA champion and Nittany Lion senior Aaron Brooks won the 86 kg title at the 2023 U23 World Championships, held over the past two days in Tirana, Albania,

Brooks 5-0 performance include a 10-0 technical fall over Tatsuya Shirai of Japan in the final to secure the championship.

Brooks is one of eight returning Nittany Lion wrestlers for the upcoming season, as well as one of two returning national champions. This season, Brooks will aim to secure his fourth national championship title, a feat only five wrestlers have done in the past. One is head coach Cael Sanderson.

Penn State will begins its upcoming season on Nov. 12 at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic in Bethlehem.
