Penn State wrestling’s Beau Bartlett will return for the 2024-25 season, he announced Monday.
Bartlett finished second in the 141 pound weight class at both the Big Ten and NCAA Championships in March.
The decision to return for a fifth year did not come as a huge surprise, as Bartlett did not participate in the Nittany Lions’ Senior Day ceremony prior to the regular season finale in late February.
Bartlett was one of eight Penn State to earn All-American distinctions en route to the team’s the 2023-24 national title. He fell to Ohio State’s Jesse Mendez, who also won their Big Ten title matchup, on a takedown in the final seconds of the 141-pound national championship bout. Bartlett finished his season with a 26-2 record.
He holds a 76-18 collegiate record and is a two-time All-American, having finished third in the nation in 2023.
Penn State is still waiting on the announcements of national champions Carter Starocci (174 pounds) and Greg Kerkvliet (heavyweight) on whether they will also return for a fifth year of eligibility.
They will join Bartlett and others among Penn State’s contingent at the U.S. Olympic Trials April 19-20 at the Bryce Jordan Center.
