Head coach Carolyn Kieger has added three new coaches to Penn State women’s basketball’s staff, the team announced Monday afternoon.

Terri Williams and Sharnee Zoll-Norman will serve as assistant coaches, while Maggie Lucas will slot in as director of player development.

Williams is no stranger to Happy Valley, as she’s a graduate of Penn State’s Class of 1991. During her time as a Lady Lion, Williams won two Atlantic 10 Conference Championships and reached the NCAA Tournament on three separate occasions.

As a coach, Williams brings 29 years of experience to Penn State. Of those 29 years, she spent 17 seasons as a head coach and earned a record of 283-242 while in charge.

Nearly half of Williams’ wins come from her time with the Auburn Tigers when she won 140 games and reached three NCAA Tournaments. During her time at Auburn, Williams’ teams set several school records, including the three-point record (193) and fewest turnovers (417) in the 2018-19 season.

Before her time at Auburn, Williams also spent eight years at Georgetown, posting a record of 143-104 as head coach and reaching three NCAA Tournaments. She also spent time as an assistant coach at Southwest Missouri State, Georgia, Georgetown, and with Team USA.

Kieger’s other new assistant coach arrives at Penn State after her most-recent stop in Rhode Island. Zoll-Norman spent three years as an assistant coach with the Rams. The Rams went 46-31 during Zoll-Norman’s tenure and reached the WNIT in her final season.

Prior to her coaching career, Zoll-Norman spent 14 years playing professionally, including three years in the WNBA.

Maggie Lucas returns to the Lady Lions as Director of Player Development after just eight years away from the team. A member of the Class of 2014, Lucas spent eight years playing professional basketball, including four years in the WNBA.

As a Lady Lion, Lucas was picked by the coaches and media for Big Ten Player of the Year in 2013, while the media picked her for the same honor in 2014. She was the consensus Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2011.

Lucas led the Lady Lions to three Big Ten regular-season titles and reached the NCAA Tournament all four years she was with the team, including two Sweet Sixteen appearances. Lucas also has the second-most points in team history (2,510) and the second-best scoring average (19.0 points per game).

The Lady Lions will try to bounce back after a not-so-great 2021-22 season where they went 11-18 and fell out of the Big Ten Tournament in the first round against Rutgers.
