Jerry Sandusky allegedly molested at least six victims in various locations. Given how close Sandusky and his wife were, are we to assume she knew absolutely nothing? Was she just as blindsided by the allegations as we were?
That’s the question of the day: How much did Dottie Sandusky know?
She helped Sandusky raise their six adopted children. She was his partner in the Second Mile foundation that was seemingly constructed to lure in and abuse children.
Either she was alongside Sandusky the entire time and had no clue what was going on, or she is fooling all of us, just like Jerry Sandusky did himself.
It’s unfair to assume that either is completely true, just as it would be wrong to dismiss either scenario as being completely false.
Sure, she may have written off the suicide attempt by one of their adopted children as stemming from preexisting issues. There is no evidence that suggests that events within the Sandusky home pushed him to the attempt.
Even so, if the scandal was as widely known about throughout the Penn State community as many believe, it’s hard to believe she knew absolutely nothing about it.
Was she as exposed to it as Mike McQueary? Like Joe Paterno, did she hear heinous allegations about Sandusky from an alternative source?
It’s unclear.
Everyone wants to know exactly what Dottie Sandusky knew, but just like many matters in this case, it’s tough to sort out who knew what, the mystery and the most troubling question of all, “Why didn’t anyone say anything?”
