Penn State’s defense gained a major boost on Tuesday when it received a commitment from edge rusher Demeioun Robinson, who will transfer to the team after spending one season with Maryland.
Robinson, a former four-star recruit, appeared in all 13 games for the Terrapins in 2021 as a true freshman. He racked up 19 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss, and two sacks.
Once he arrives in Happy Valley, Robinson will have three remaining years of eligibility. He’s still eligible for a redshirt season if needed, but he’s more likely to contribute in a more meaningful way for the Nittany Lions.
Robinson was ranked the fourth-best defensive end and third-best overall Maryland prospect in the Class of 2021. The Gaithersburg, Maryland, native received north of 20 offers as a prospect, including interest from schools like Alabama, Clemson and Penn State.
Robinson is the latest pickup for James Franklin’s program this offseason. Penn State received a commitment from former Western Kentucky receiver Mitchell Tinsley on Christmas Eve, while Class of 2022 prospects who are already on campus could strengthen the Nittany Lions’ ranks even more.
