WINGATE — Rachel Veneziano only needed to stop one shot in posting the shutout, and three different Lady Eagles found the net as Bald Eagle Area notched its first win of the year, 3-0, over visiting Tyrone in Centre County girls’ soccer action Sept. 17.
“The girls looked great,’ said BEA coach Jared Moore. ‘They dominated possession and worked the ball well. The goals looked great and the hustle was phenomenal.
‘This was a great first win after a few tough losses. This is just what we needed to jump start the season.’
Bald Eagle Area entered the match with an 0-2-2 mark, while Tyrone was responsible for pinning Mountain League leader Penns Valley with its only setback of the young campaign.
However, Addison Proctor scored 15:05 into the contest to provide the Lady Eagles with, as it turned out, the only goal they needed.
Bald Eagle Area outshot the visitors 13-1.
“The defense was lights out,” Moore said.
Allison’s Cowan scored unassisted at 61:03 for insurance for the Lady Eagles. Zoey McHenry scored at 73:52 — the assist going to Grace Holderman — to set the final.
Bald Eagle nearly had gotten into the win column the previous match against perennial league and district power Central before falling by a 2-1 count Sept. 13. Proctor’s goal at 29:56 had evened the contest at a goal apiece, but Central’s Averey Black responded with the game-winner for the Lady Dragons.
Falen McHenry assisted on Proctor’s goal, while Veneziano stopped three shots. Ashley Negley accounted for Central’s first goal.

Steward scored off a Natalie Stewart pass 16 minutes in to tie the match at 1-1, then put State College ahead nine minutes later by driving home an Abby Edelman assist. One minute after East Juniata drew even at 38:00 on Kierstyn Fogle tally, Graham found Edelman, who found the net to give the Lady Little Lions the lead once again going into the half.
Hailey Swartz scored the match-opening goal, one minute in.
Graham scored three goals, and Feese registered a goal and an assist in State College’s 6-0 victory at Cedar Cliff on Sept. 13.

Graham’s second-half penalty kick got the Lady Little Lions within a goal of Central Dauphin, but they never could get the equalizer.
Graham also scored State’s other goal unassisted at the 22-minute mark to tie the match at 2 before Central Dauphin got goals from Taylor Luckenbill (53:00) and Mikayla Mustard (56:00) to put some space between itself and the Lady Little Lions.
“We lost a close game against a strong team,” State College coach Doug Bates said. “I felt that we had our changes, in fact, more than them. They simply did a better job of capitalizing.’
Luckenbill opened the scoring with a goal seven minutes in.
Central Dauphin was a 2-0 winner in the junior varsity match.
