Letter from the General Manager: Let Us Know What You Think!

State College - Vilma Shu

,

A new year means new beginnings and fresh starts. It’s a chance to use the next 365 days to embrace a new perspective and all the wonderful possibilities it holds. As I take the helm as Interim General Manager of Barash Media, I look forward to continue the legacy of producing quality publications with stories that make a difference in this community.

It is with great honor and gratitude that I have been given the opportunity to lead the talented staff at Town&Gown and The Centre County Gazette.

As a Penn State grad with degrees in English, French, and Economics, I started with Barash Media 11 years ago as an editorial intern. I am a Brazilian-born Chinese who grew up in Africa and Europe, but somehow never found my way out of State College. A few years ago, I proudly pledged my oath to become a United States citizen. With Penn State on the other side of the street, I am very excited to bring my international perspective to our ever-changing diverse community.

For more than 52 years, Town&Gown has upheld our motto, “If it’s happening in Happy Valley, it’s in Town&Gown.” Our business model is unique in that we have always been free and accessible, with 450 distribution locations throughout Centre County. We have been able to do this because of our loyal advertisers and readers who have supported our efforts in this community. We want to take this opportunity to thank you all.

In 2018, we want to encourage our advertisers and readers to provide us with your feedback. We would like to learn about the stories you want to read and how we can better serve you. We encourage you to email us with story ideas, tell us you enjoyed an article that was featured or perhaps advertisements in our magazine that lead you to make a purchase. In addition, we ask you to take a few moments to complete our Reader Survey in our upcoming February issue. As a thank you, participants will be eligible for prize packages.

Whether you pick up Town&Gown at one of our 450 locations or view our digital edition on your computer, tablet, or mobile device, we are committed to continue to deliver quality, independent journalism that highlights the wonderful people, organizations, and businesses that make Happy Valley such a great place to live, work, and play.
