State College has announced a series of neighborhood association meetings to receive feedback on the borough’s Next Generation Connectivity and Mobility Plan.

The goal of the Next Generation Connectivity and Mobility Plan is to develop “strategies and capital improvement projects that will enhance the borough’s goal of developing a safe, reliable, efficient, integrated and connected multimodal transportation system,” according to the boroughs office of community engagement.

Topics to be addressed in the plan include traffic calming, curb management and parking strategy, micromobility expansion, access to public transit and capital projects that support multimodal activity.

The NextGen project management team will hold a series of meetings with the State College Borough Neighborhood Associations to gather feedback on initial ideas for the NextGen plan. The dates and times for the meetings will be:

  • Monday, Oct. 23, 5:30-7 p.m. at the State College Municipal Building, Council Chambers
  • Tuesday, Oct. 24,noon-2 p.m. at the Eric J. Barron Innovation Hub, Room 612
  • Tuesday, Oct. 24, 4-5:30 p.m. at State College Area High School

The NextGen team will also hold a “Penn State Pop-Up” event from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25, near the intersection of College Avenue and South Allen Street.

Community members should contact their neighborhood association leader and/or Jasmine Fields, the borough’s sustainability program officer, for more information about the meetings.

The borough is still seeking community feedback on the proposed solutions. Feedback can be provided via the survey, which takes 15 minutes to do, and comment map. The survey and comment map will remain open until Monday, Oct. 30th.
