Centre County Adds 102 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 3,126

Centre County reported 102 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, its highest single-day increase since Feb. 7, to bring its total to 13,665, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 3,126 positives, bringing its total to 976,847.

The county also had 136 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 63,437. Across Pennsylvania, there were 8,589 new negatives for a total of 4,027,348.

DOH removed one COVID-related death from Centre County’s total, which is now 213.

With 17 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is 24,706.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating 14 COVID-19 inpatients as of Thursday morning, unchanged from Wednesday. The patients range in age from 44 to 90, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Statewide, 1,486 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 287 in intensive care and 161 on ventilators.

Centre County nursing and personal care homes added two COVID-19 cases among residents. A total of 17 long-term care facilities in the county have had a combined 722 resident cases, 151 employee cases and 163 resident deaths.

An estimated 92% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

A total of 34,868 people in Centre County have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The total includes 21,503 who are fully covered with both required doses, according to health department data.

Among Pennsylvania’s total cases, 835,734 are confirmed and 141,113 are probable. In Centre County, 12,471 are confirmed and 1,194 are probable.
