Centre County Adds 14 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 1,731 New Positives

Centre County reported 14 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday to increase its total 17,126, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 1,731 positives — its most in a single day since May 21 —to bring the commonwealth’s total to 1,232,185.

The county also reported 52 negative test results for a total of 73,062. Statewide, there were 6,619 new negatives for a total of 4,941,480.

According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, 11 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, an increase of three since Wednesday. One is in intensive care [-1] and none are on ventilators.

Statewide hospitalizations continue to climb. Pennsylvania has 624 COVID-19 inpatients [+61], with 141 in intensive care [+15] and 85 on ventilators [+24].

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the total at 228. 

With seven new COVID-19 deaths statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,890.

An estimated 96% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a DOH calculation.

As of Thursday morning, 77,945 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 5,730 are partially covered.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in MedicineMount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.

Among Centre County’s cases, 15,590 are confirmed and 1,536 are probable.
