Centre County Adds 214 COVID-19 Cases Over 3 Days; Pennsylvania Reports 10,101

Centre County reported 214 COVID-19 cases over the past three days to bring its total to 14,439, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The new cases include 116 on Saturday, 53 on Sunday and 45 on Monday.

Saturday’s total is the highest since Jan. 31.

Pennsylvania added 10,101 over the same period —7,178 combined for Saturday and Sunday and 2,923 on Monday — for a statewide total of 1,015,268.

The Department of Health updated its COVID-19 dashboard on Saturday morning but later that night issued a press release saying the data had been displayed in error. Technical issues prevented reporting accurate data for Saturday and DOH released full weekend data on Monday.

The county also had 309 additional negative test results over the three days, increasing its total to 64,753. Across Pennsylvania, there were 20,934 new negatives for a total of 4,116,035.

Centre County’s total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 remained at 213 for the 23rd consecutive day.

With 62 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide since Friday, Pennsylvania’s total is 25,015.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating 24 COVID-19 inpatients as of Monday morning, two more than on Friday. The patients range in age from 18 to 90, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Statewide, an uptick in hospitalizations continues, with 1,916 COVID-19 inpatients, including 389 in intensive care and 209 on ventilators as of Monday morning.

An estimated 91% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

A total of 42,787 people in Centre County are at least partially covered by the COVID-19 vaccine. The total includes 26,068 who are fully covered, either through the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine or both required doses of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, according to health department data.

Among Pennsylvania’s cases, 864,804 are confirmed and 150,464 are probable. In Centre County, 13,180 are confirmed and 1,259 are probable.
