Centre County reported 33 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday to bring its total to 19,320. Among total cases 17,495 are confirmed and 1,825 are probable.
Pennsylvania added 4,892 positives to increase the statewide total to 1,429,940.
The county also had 91 new negative test results for a total of 79,460. Statewide there were 11,389 negatives to bring the total to 5,453,490.
Deaths
DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the total at 235.
With 77 new COVID-19 deaths statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is 29,400.
Hospitalizations
Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating 41 COVID-19 inpatients, five more than on Wednesday, with six in intensive care and six on ventilators. The patients range in age from 11 to 89. According to the medical center’s COVID-19 inpatient dashboard, 12 are fully vaccinated against the virus and 29 are not vaccinated.
Statewide, Pennsylvania has 2,795 COVID-19 inpatients, an decrease of 48 since Wednesday, with 694 in intensive care [+13] and 379 on ventilators [+3]. Hospitalizations are at their highest level since April 23.
An estimated 90% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a DOH calculation that considers a case as recovered if it has not been reported as a death and it is more than 30 days past the date of the first positive test or onset of symptoms.
Transmission level
All 67 counties in Pennsylvania are at the highest level for community transmission of COVID-19 on the Centers for Disease Control scale, according to the latest county-level data update on Tuesday afternoon.
Transmission levels are based on positivity rate and cases per 100,000 people for the previous seven days. At the substantial and high levels, CDC guidance recommends all people, regardless of vaccination status, wear masks in public indoor settings.
Vaccinations
As of Thursday morning, 83,105 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated [+61 since Wednesday] and 6,350 are partially covered [-9]. Booster doses have been administered to 2,005 county residents [+285].
Among the county’s entire population, 61.9% have received at least one dose and 53.3% are fully vaccinated, according to the CDC. Among adult residents, 69% have received at least one dose and 59.4% are fully vaccinated
Statewide, 68.7% of adults are fully vaccinated and Pennsylvania is fifth in the nation for total doses administered, according the CDC.
Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
