Centre County Adds 4 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 1,257 New Positives

Centre County reported four new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday to bring its total to 16,730, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The increase is tied for the county’s second lowest since late August.

Pennsylvania added 1,257 new positives for a statewide total of 1,190,102.

The county also had 43 negative test results to increase its total to 69,300. Across Pennsylvania, there were 5,591 new negatives for a total of 4,532,317.

According to DOH’s hospital preparedness dashboard, which includes Mount Nittany Medical Center and rehabilitation hospitals, 13 COVID-19 patients in Centre County are hospitalized. None are in intensive care or on ventilators.

Statewide, Pennsylvania has 1,353 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 74 since Tuesday, with 316 in intensive care [-4] and 212 on ventilators [+1].

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the county’s total at 222.

With 54 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 26,925.

An estimated 92% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

As of Wednesday morning, 64,077 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 15,188 are partially covered.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in MedicineMount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov. The state-run Regional Vaccination Clinic at the Bryce Jordan Center offers vaccines to individuals 18 and older by appointment or walk-in.

Among Centre County’s cases, 15,253 are confirmed and 1,477 are probable. Statewide, 999,176 are confirmed and 190,926 are probable.
