Centre County reported four new COVID-19 cases on Saturday to increase its total to 16,959, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Pennsylvania added 398 positives, bringing the statewide total to 1,216,165.
The county also reported 72 negative test results, bringing its total to 71,972. Statewide, there were 4,788 new negatives for a total of 4,842,136.
For the week of July 9-July 15, the county’s PCR testing positivity rate was 1.8%, up from 1.0% the previous seven days, according to the updated DOH early warning monitoring dashboard. The rate was tied for 43rd among Pennsylvania’s 67 counties.
The county had 18 confirmed cases last week, up from 10 the prior week.
The statewide positivity rate was 1.7%, up from 1.2% the previous seven days. It was the second consecutive week Pennsylvania’s positivity rate increased after 12 consecutive weeks of decreases. The commonwealth had 1,480 new positives last week, up from 907 the prior week.
According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, five COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, with none in intensive care or on ventilators — all unchanged from Friday.
Pennsylvania has 258 COVID-19 inpatients, an increase of 11 since Friday, with 55 in intensive care [+5] and 33 on ventilators [+1].
Average daily COVID-specific hospitalizations in Centre County fell from 5.9 to 3.7 for the week of July 9-15. Pennsylvania’s COVID hospitalizations dropped by 39 to 251.6.
DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents on Saturday, keeping the total at 228.
With four new COVID-19 deaths statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,790.
An estimated 97% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a health department calculation.
As of Saturday morning, 76,846 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 5,227 are partially covered.
Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
