Centre County Adds 65 COVID-19 Cases Over 2 Days; Pennsylvania Reports 3,573

Centre County reported 65 new COVID-19 cases over the past two days — 59 on Sunday and six on Monday — to bring its total to 12,944, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 3,573 — 1,945 on Sunday and 1,628 on Monday — bringing its total to 933,270.

The county also had 196 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 61,293. Across Pennsylvania there were 13,626 new negatives for a total of 3,889,842.

DOH reported one new death attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, the first in a week, bringing the county’s total at 209.

With 26 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide — 21 on Sunday and five on Monday — Pennsylvania’s total is now 24,026.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is currently treating 19 COVID-19 inpatients, an increase of nine since Friday. The patients range in age from 20 to 87, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Across Pennsylvania, 1,715 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 366 in intensive care and 203 on ventilators.

Nursing and personal care homes in Centre County reported eight new COVID-19 case among residents. A total of 18 long-term care facilities in the county have had a combined 707 resident cases, 147 employee cases and 158 resident deaths.

An estimated 91% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

A total of 24,832 people in Centre County have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, including 11,055 who are fully covered with both required doses, according to health department data.

Among Pennsylvania’s total cases, 803,009 are confirmed and 130,261 are probable. In Centre County, 11,897 are confirmed and 1,047 are probable.
