BALD EAGLE — State champion Bald Eagle Area starting pitcher Weston McClain was named to the Small Town All-America Team on Thursday, July 11, by MaxPreps.

Members of the Small Town All-America Team must attend a school that has an attendance of under 1,000 students in a town with a population fewer than 10,000.

McClain led the Bald Eagles to their third Pennsylvania state baseball championship in 2024 — their second in a row — and was named to the second team on the STAA list.

McClain’s 2024 season was beyond exceptional. He finished with a 13-0 record and led the Eagles to a final record of 25-2 with a Laurel Highlands championship, a District 6 championship and the 2024 2A state championship.

He got a save in the state championship game against Tri-Valley with a perfect seventh inning, pitched a three-hitter in the quarterfinal against Moniteau and was the winning pitcher in the D6 championship game against West Branch.

For the season, McClain pitched 81 innings and gave up 19 earned runs (1.63 ERA) with 77 strikeouts, 20 walks and 65 hits. He graduated with a career record of 17-0 in 21 total appearances for the Eagles.

He also saved two games and hit .378 with 17 hits, 11 RBIs, seven doubles and a home run.

The All-America Team was led by Logan Jenkins, national player of the year, from Collinsville High School in Collinsville, Texas. Collinsville finished 40-3 last season and won the state 2A championship.

Andy Davis of Sumrall, Mississippi, was the Small Town National Coach of the Year. His Sumrall High School team won two of the last three state championships and this year finished No. 1 in the MaxPreps Small Town Top 25.
