Keira Whitman, one of three Bellefonte goalkeepers, never faced a shot on goal in 45 minutes of play.

In the rout of Westmont at home on Sept. 30, Kasak had another big game, scoring three goals and assisting on another. Miller scored two goals and assisted on another. Brook Whitman added a goal and assisted on another goal.

Grace Orr and Madyson Miller also scored goals, and Cernuska dished out two assists. Keira Whitman made two saves in 62 minutes in goal.

LADY EAGLES IN CLOSE GAMES

The Bald Eagle Area girls team earned a 3-2 win on Sept. 26 at Somerset and tied Forest Hills, 3-3, in double overtime on Sept. 28 at home.

Against Somerset, BEA scored first on a Adrienne Hacker penalty kick at 29:10. Makenzie Bickle followed at 35:30, with the assist going to Sybil Thompson. With the scored tied, 2-2, BEA went ahead for good at 62:49 on a Somerset own goal.

BEA goalkeeper Makayla Spicer made 10 saves, while Somerset’s Sophie Urbain made five stops.

“We came out on fire and popped two in the net,” BEA coach Jared Moore said. “Khloe Cunningham worked the ball into the box and earned a PK, and Adrienne Hacker finished it. Sybil found Bickle for a great strike and Bick blasted it into the next. She had a great game. The runs she was making were really good.

“Just a great team win this evening against a good Somerset team.”

Hacker scored all three BEA goals against Forest Hills, including the final one in regulation on a penalty kick at 67:29. Down 2-0, she scored on a penalty kick at 39:33 before tying the game at 44:34 thanks to an assist by Thompson.

Spicer made nine saves, while Forest Hills’ Alyssa Walker had 13 stops.

“After we found ourselves down again, we pressured the box on a corner and earned another PK, and Adrienne put it in to finish her hat trick,” Moore said. “It’s hard to take one PK let alone two, and she was fantastic.”

BEA (5-4-1) was to visit Huntingdon on Tuesday and host Clearfield on Thursday before playing at 5 p.m. Saturday at Central Mountain.

The Philipsburg-Osceola girls team went 1-1 last week, losing to Forest Hills, 3-0, and beating Richland, 4-2.

Bender made six saves.

“The girls’ backs were against the wall tonight.” P-O coach Joe Matson said. “Coming off a two-game losing streak, we really needed a win, and they delivered. Chloe Matson had a nice evening, scoring three goals, as did the rest of the team. All in all it was another example of good team soccer on display.”
