STATE COLLEGE — Centre Volunteers in Medicine recently announced that the organization reached $1 million from local philanthropists and long-time supporters of CVIM, Lance and Ellen Shaner.

For the past 18 years, the Shaners’ commitment to CVIM’s mission of supporting free quality health care to uninsured community members in the county has included a donation of $50,000 to match CVIM’s Annual Friends and Family Campaign.

“This milestone represents an unwavering commitment to community wellbeing from Lance and Ellen Shaner,” Paula Williams, executive director of CVIM, said. “Their generosity has been a cornerstone of our ability to grow and adapt to the needs of our community, and we are deeply grateful for their ongoing support.”

The annual matching by the Shaners’ has become fundamental for the nonprofit’s fundraising efforts, also inspiring other donors to give and extend the impact of each dollar donated. Thanks to the match this year, CVIM has been able to use funding to expand reach to provide comprehensive medical, dental and behavioral health care to underserved folks in Centre County.

“Ellen and I believe that everyone should have access to quality healthcare,” Lance Shaner said. “Through our support for CVIM, we hope to encourage others to join us in creating a healthier, more equitable community for everyone.”

As CVIM celebrates these significant milestones, the organization invites the community to get involved by donating, volunteering or spreading the word. Visit www.cvim.net for more information about the organization.
