STATE COLLEGE — For the first time in more than 10 years, Cirque du Soleil is coming to the Bryce Jordan Center from Thursday, March 27, through Sunday, March 30, 2025, with the acrobatic performance, “OVO.”
Written and directed by Deborah Colker, the show dives into a colorful world full of life where bugs work, crawl, play, flutter, eat, fight and look for love.
Highlighting ecosystems and biodiversity, “OVO” is a story that follows a mysterious egg that leaves the insects in awe and curious about their own cycle of life and the love story between a ladybug and the new insect in town.
“’OVO’ is overflowing with contrasts. The hidden, secret world at our feet is revealed as tender and torrid, noisy and quiet, peaceful and chaotic,” Cirque du Soleil explained in a press release. “And as the sun rises on a bright new day the vibrant cycle of insect life begins anew.”
Tickets for “OVO” will start at $49, on sale through Ticketmaster on Monday, Oct. 7.
The performance will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, Friday, March 28, and Saturday, March 29, as well as 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, and Sunday, March 30.
“OVO” is the 25th live production for Cirque du Soleil and was created for the company’s 25th anniversary, premiering in 2009. The production boasts a talented international cast from more than 25 countries with performers all the way from Brazil to Taiwan.
“The name ‘OVO’ means ‘egg’ in Portuguese,” Cirque du Soleil noted in the press release. “This timeless symbol of the life cycle and birth of numerous insects represents the underlying thread of the show.”
Visually, “OVO” hides an insect in its name with the two “O’s” representing the bug’s eyes and the “V” representing the insect’s nose.
Since “OVO” was relaunched in 2022, guests at the Bryce Jordan Center will get to witness three newly incorporated acts as well as new characters.
Founded in 1984 in Canada, Cirque du Soleil has been bringing live acrobatics for a modern circus experience across the globe for the last 40 years.
Cirque du Soleil last visited the Bryce Jordan Center in October 2014 with six performances of “Dralion.”
