CHAMBERSBURG — Branden Price erupted for eight goals as the State College boys dumped visiting Chambersburg, 16-7, in high school lacrosse action on Thursday, April 14.
The Little Lions jumped out to a 5-1 lead through one quarter and put the match away with four unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to raise their record to 4-2.
Cooper Brushwood finished with three goals and two assists for State College, which also received two goals and two assists from Ty Salazar and a goal and three assists from Leo Vandevort. Eli Espinoza netted two goals for State College.
Owen Perry found the net once, while Carter Williams registered two assists and Kyle Cunningham recorded three ground balls.
Vandevort, Ian Brandt, Talan DiNicola, Nate Price and Stephen Scourtis also had ground balls for State.
Dominic Marangoni led Chambersburg with three goals, two assists and four ground balls.
STATE COLLEGE GIRLS
The State College girls raced out to a 14-0 halftime lead on their way to an 18-2 home triumph over Chambersburg on April 14.
The Lady Little Lions improved to 5-2. “Defenders Casidy Cohagan, Molly Schreiner, Hannah Garlin, Olivia Miller, and goalkeeper Grace Jones held Chambersburg scoreless in the first half,” State College coach Tara Hohenshelt said.
ones only faced three shots before giving way to Hannah Zaritski at the end. Zaritski stopped two Lady Trojan shots. Offensively, 12 different Lady Lions scored.
Sydney O’Donnell led the way with four, while Leah Moyer, Maddie Rottkamp and Ella Tambroni each scored twice.
Marina Dunlap, Katie Fry, Hannah Garlin, Phebe Herlocher, Caitlyn Keiter, Morgan Powers, Mia Reese and Molly Schreiner found the net once apiece.
Dunlap also had two assists, while Fry, Keiter, Moyer, Powers, Reese, Annika Bechtel and Emma Lally each had a pass lead to a goal.
Moyer chipped in four draw controls, O’Donnell had three and Herlocher two.
BELLEFONTE GIRLS
Molly McKee scored five goals and Elle Macafee returned from an injury to pile up five goals and five assists as the Bellefonte girls won for the fifth time in six matches, 15-3, over Midd-West at Rogers Stadium on April 14.
Taylor Henry added two goals for the Lady Raiders. Lexi Badger and Makenna Lake each scored once.
Kayle Frantz turned back four Lady Mustang shots. Bellefonte was edged, 5-4, in the junior varsity match.
