COLLEGE TOWNSHIP — Rep. Paul Takac formally announced his candidacy for re-election to the 82nd Legislative District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

Takac emphasized his dedication to putting people first and fostering positive change locally and across the Commonwealth. Reflecting on his first term in office, Takac highlighted his success in advancing legislative and budgetary priorities that directly impact Pennsylvania families, as well as his commitment to working in a bipartisan way to deliver for every resident and community in the 82nd District.

“It is an honor and privilege to represent my Centre County neighbors in Harrisburg, and a tremendous opportunity to help create meaningful change in our area and for our commonwealth as a whole,” said Takac. “I have worked hard to earn the respect and support of everyone in our community, including my colleagues across the aisle.”

“I continue to focus on what matters most — better jobs, better schools and stronger, safer communities while protecting and expanding the rights and freedoms of every Pennsylvanian,” Takac stated. “I’m proud of my support for historic investments in public education, increases in the childcare tax credit and the expansion of the property tax/rent rebate program. These measures will provide much-needed financial relief to our communities for years to come, and I’m proud to have played a role in securing these important investments,”

Takac also highlighted his local achievements, which include helping secure nearly $15 million in grant funding for Centre County.

“Since assuming office, I have prioritized delivering real results and improving the quality of life for residents and communities across the 82nd District now and in the future,” Takac stated. “I’m proud that my Republican Senate counterpart, Sen. Cris Dush, and I have been able to set aside partisan differences and work together to secure over $2.6 million in funding for Snow Shoe and the Mountaintop Region. This funding addresses vital needs such as water and sewer infrastructure, emergency services, upgrades to the Snow Shoe Township park and offices, the Moshannon Community Center and more.”

Takac stressed that while significant progress has been made since he took office, another term would help continue to build on a strong foundation, including his emerging role as a bipartisan leader and as a member of key committees, including the House Education Committee, that are working to address urgent and important issues facing Pennsylvania.

“If re-elected, my focus will remain on securing full and fair funding for public education and workforce development, protecting our environment and supporting the transition to a clean, renewable energy economy,” Takac affirmed. “I will also continue advocating for investment in our rural communities, supporting veterans and first responders and ensuring that every Pennsylvanian has access to affordable, high-quality health care, broadband and other essential services, regardless of their ZIP code.”

Prior to his election to the PA House of Representatives, Takac worked for over 20 years in educational technology, leading a sales and consulting team that worked with schools across Pennsylvania. He also served as an elected member of College Township Council and as chair of both the Spring Creek Watershed Commission and the Centre Region Council of Government’s Public Safety Committee.

The 82nd Legislative District encompasses the townships of Benner, Boggs, Burnside, College, Curtin, Harris, Howard, Liberty, Marion, Snow Shoe and Union, along with the boroughs of Howard, Milesburg, Snow Shoe and part of State College.
