CLEARFIELD — Dru Smith’s 81 and Kane Wolf’s 84 sparked the Bald Eagle Area boys golf team to a second-place team finish out of six full teams competing in a Laurel Highlands Conference match at Clearfield-Curwensville Country Club on Monday, Sept. 11.

Hollidaysburg won the match with a team score of 329. BEA shot 350, Bellefonte 379 and Philipsburg-Osceola 405.

Hollidaysburg’s Tyler Steiner medaled with a round of 73. Bellefonte’s Issak Bloom was second at 80 shots.

Wade Habovick carded an 89 for BEA, which also got scores of 96 from Alex Posney and 98 from Weston McClain.

Cameron Garcia shot 98 for Bellefonte, with Gavin Shalfa coming in one shot behind him. Joey Swentosky rounded out the Red Raiders’ scoring with a 102.

Trey Doyle registered Philipsburg-Osceola’s best round of 82, while Jake Lucas shot 86, Nick Desmone 118, Ryan Kolby 119 and Camden Rudy 122.

State College boys

MECHANICSBURG — Max Wager shared medalist honors with Hershey’s Quinn McDonald and Central Dauphin’s Joey Sembrot, but it wasn’t quite enough to get State College all six team wins in a Mid Penn Commonwealth match at Cumberland Valley on Thursday, Sept. 7, as the Little Lions came up one stroke shy of Central Dauphin, 292-293.

A similar scenario played out in a match at Central Dauphin on Sept. 11, where the Rams finished at 296 and the Little Lions were second at 300.

In the match at Cumberland Valley, State’s Chris Warner tied for fourth with a 72, while the Little Lions’ Luke McGraw was tied for ninth with a 74.

A.J. Corson, Sam Shaner and Brady Wager all shot 77 for State College. Ty Miller finished with an 83.

Warner was one shot off the pace of Central Dauphin’s Michael Chotiner for the best individual score on Sept. 11, checking in with a 69.

Max Wager was fourth with a 73, and Luke Ladrido tied for eighth with a 77.

The rest of the State College lineup had Corson and Charlie Ladrido finishing in 79 shots, while Miller hit an 85 and J.P. Hay an 89.

St. Joseph’s

MILLERSBURG — St. Joseph’s Maddie Koshko tied Millersburg’s Aiden Fulkroad for low score with a 2-over-par 73, but the WolfPack came up short in the team scoring to Millersburg, 338-350, in Tri-Valley Athletic Association competition on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Lykens Valley Golf Course.

The WolfPack did beat East Juniata and Susquenita.

Elliott Lingle shot 79 for St. Joseph’s. Sam Krasowitz provided a round of 91, while Luke Duckworth and Tyler Kline finished in 107 and 108, respectively.

Philipsburg-Osceola girls

CRESSON — Maddyx Hampton shot a 49 to beat Bishop Carroll’s Kylee Yoder by two strokes and her own Lady Mountie teammate Olivia Hutton by three shots for medalist as the Philipsburg-Osceola girls posted a 155-182 Laurel Highlands Conference win over host Penn Cambria at Summit Country Club on Sept. 7 in a match that also included golfers from Carroll and Bellwood-Antis.

Only the Lady Mounties and Penn Cambria had the four competitors required to score as a team.

Madeline Bainey finished with a round of 54 for P-O, which also got a 62 from Lenora Levonick and 63 from Bailey Vroman.

Altoona needed a school record 40 by Ellie Filer to hold off the Lady Mounties, 155-164, in a non-conference match at Park Hills Golf Club on Sept. 11.

Hampton finished second individually with a 51. Hutton shot 56, Vroman 61 and Bainey and Maddie Cartwright each 67 for Philipsburg-Osceola.

Bellefonte girls

ALTOONA — None of the Lady Raiders were able to fire under 60 as the Bellefonte girls came up on the short end of a 154-179 count against Altoona at Park Hills Golf Club on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Grace Angle’s 61 led Bellefonte, while Kate Harman shot 68. The Lady Raiders’ Erin Ashe finished with a 70.
