STATE COLLEGE — In support of U.S. active military and our nation’s veterans, The UPS Store, located at 19 Colonnade Way, is initiating Operation: S.W.A.K. (Sealed With A Kiss), which is looking to fill a large box with greeting cards for active duty military or veterans at the Altoona VA Home.

Unlike emails, text messages and other digital communication, a greeting card or handwritten letter provides a soldier with a memento he or she can keep and use for continued inspiration and encouragement. In recognition of this, and to pay tribute to the sacrifices made by our military, The UPS Store created Operation: S.W.A.K.

“Right now, the United States has active duty military troops stationed in countries all over the world,” said The UPS Store owner Victor DeDonato. “It’s our honor to show our support for these dedicated men and women by offering complimentary postage for cards or letters addressed to them.”

Government regulations stipulate that all mail must be addressed to a specific U.S. serviceman or woman with an APO/FPO address (or a veteran residing in a VA home) and must include a valid return address. To ensure overseas delivery by Valentine’s Day, Victor also recommends bringing the cards and letters by Feb. 10, although letters will be accepted through Feb. 14.

The UPS Store at 19 Colonnade Way is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
