BELLEFONTE — A new program to repair vehicles is now available in Centre County, courtesy of the county commissioners.

The program, provided through Community Development Block Grant Corona Virus Response (CDBG-CV) funds, will pay for vehicle repair costs, not to exceed Kelley Blue Book value of the vehicle, for low- to moderate-income residents of Centre County, excluding residents of State College Borough. Need for assistance must be related to COVID-19 — employment loss, loss of work hours, medical bills, etc.

If interested, contact the Centre Helps 24/7 hotline at (814) 237-5855. Hotline counselors will review the eligibility criteria with residents before transferring them to case managers, who will conduct a full income intake to determine family income eligibility for funds.

Centre County has allocated $38,000 to the program for county residents, excluding State College Borough residents; and Bellefonte has allocated $58,000 for residents of the borough.
