College GameDay to Air from Old Main Lawn

ESPN’s College GameDay will air from Old Main Lawn this weekend ahead of No. 10 Penn State football’s White Out clash with No. 22 Auburn.

The network’s popular college football pregame show airs live from 9 a.m. to noon. This marks the 10th time and fifth consecutive year GameDay will broadcast from Penn State and the 22nd time overall the show has aired from the site of a Nittany Lion game.

Fans interested in being in the GameDay pit can begin lining up at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, with access opening at 6:45 a.m. No bags, backpacks, purses, food, drinks, inappropriate signs, signs or flags on sticks, pens, pencils, markers or dry-erase boards are permitted.

Those attending are encouraged to wear masks.

The GameDay production. crew arrived on Tuesday evening to begin set up on Old Main Lawn.

With the show’s broadcast and the 7:30 p.m. game comes a number of parking and traffic changes across campus.

Pollock Road is closed between Fraser Road and Henderson Drive now through 6 p.m. Saturday. On Saturday, the closure will extend from Burrowes Road to Shortlidge Road.

Old Main’s parking lot, as well as Brown C, are closed now through Saturday as ESPN’s production teams begin setting up for the show. Permit holders who usually park there will be reassigned behind Willard Building. Overflow for Brown A permit holders will head up to the Nittany Deck.

Beaver Stadium’s parking lots will open at 8 a.m. on Saturday for fans heading to see College GameDay. Students and fans with Beaver Stadium parking permits are encouraged to walk to Old Main or take the White Loop or Blue Loop.

Gameday parking is also available at a few parking decks around campus:

  • East, HUB, and Nittany decks – $40 (payable by credit card upon exiting at pay-on-foot or in-lane machines)
  • Eisenhower Deck – $40 (cash only paid upon entering)
  • West Deck – $25 (payable by credit card upon exiting at pay-on-foot or in-lane machines)

Last year, College GameDay aired from Beaver Stadium’s concourse. In 2019, it broadcast from the HUB Lawn following a few years at Old Main Lawn.
