Crust & Crumb Cafe in downtown State College has permanently closed after less than two years in business.

No reason for the 115 E. Beaver Ave. cafe’s closure was given other than that the business is now being put up for sale, according to posts on its social media accounts.

“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of the guests that frequented our establishment over the past 2 years and supported us through a difficult pandemic…,” owner Amber Winkler wrote. “Our time here has been short, but in some way, we hope we were able to bring something special to the community.”

It appears that the closure is immediate and the business’ last day open was Sunday.

Winkler, a Penn State alumna, opened the artisan inspired cafe in fall 2020 at the former location of Nosh Cafe & Grill. Crust & Crumb specialized in coffees, homemade pastries and gourmet deli sandwiches.
