Pennsylvania mountain folktales and legends — fact or fancy?

November 21 @ 5:30 pm 6:30 pm EST

Free

Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Assn.

The mountains of Pennsylvania are a source of pleasure and fascination to most of us. Not only because of their natural beauty but also because clinging to those high mountain peaks and the valleys they hide are many human-interest stories and lurid legends that capture the imagination of anyone who hears them. But then the inevitable question arises: Are the stories true, or are they just products from the imaginations of gifted storytellers?

In his talk, “Pennsylvania mountain folktales and legends—fact or fancy?” local author Jeffrey R. Frazier uses PowerPoint images to share his favorite stories from his Fireside Tales and Mountain Landmarks series. He delves into the history behind each tale to reveal its origins and uncover the “kernels” of truth it holds.

Refreshments and informal conversation will follow the presentation.
