Alton C. Corl, 96, of Pleasant Gap, died on June 15, 2024, at Centre Care. Born on April 29, 1928, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late G. Fred and Ruth L. (Markle) Corl. He was married to Emeline E. (Ream) Corl, who preceded him in death on April 15, 2009. 

Alton was a graduate of Bellefonte Area High School Class of ’46 and attended Williamsport Community College. He was employed for 41 years with Cerro Metal Products and retired in 1991. He also had a tax service business for 50 years. 

He had enlisted in the United States Army in 1946 and served 13 months in the occupation of Japan and recalled in 1951 during Korean War and served 18 months. He also served three and half years with the PA National Guard. 

He is survived by a son, Terry L. Corl and wife Constance W. of Mingoville, and a daughter, Deborah K. Corl of Pleasant Gap. He is survived by grandsons John R. Corl (Annette) of Coraopolis, and Joel W. Corl of Pleasant Gap, and one great grandchild, Sean R. Corl. Also surviving are two brothers, David Corl of Centre Hall, and Michael Corl (Donna) of Howard. 

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by siblings James, Budd, Carl, Linda, and Geraldine. 

Alton was active in the Pleasant Gap Little League from 1954 until 1975. He served 21 years on the Church Council, with 20 years as the treasurer. He was a life member of the Pleasant Gap Fire Company, life member of the Pleasant Gap Legion Post #0867, and a member of the Bellefonte Elks Lodge #1094. He was also a member of the Pleasant Gap Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. 

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 160 N. Main Street, Pleasant Gap. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM, at the church, with Pastor Laura Waltermire officiating. Burial services with full military honors will directly follow at Centre County Memorial Park in State College. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte. 

The family would like to express their most heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Centre Care, Grane Hospice, and Janie Burns for the loving and compassionate care that was provided to Alton.
