Dickson E. “Dick” Grenoble, 76, of Pine Grove Mills, entered into his eternal rest on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at his home. Born on November 8, 1946, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Elmer E. and Betty Frances (Musser) Grenoble. On October 6, 1973, in Spring Mills, he married the love of his life, Jacqueline E. Mabus, who survives at home.

Dick graduated from State College High School in 1964. He worked at the Brooks’ Blackhawk Stone Quarry until he was drafted by the United States Army Corp of Engineers for the Vietnam War in 1966. He proudly served in the 577 Unit while in Vietnam until 1968. While enlisted he earned the rank of Specialist and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 1960 prior to his honorable discharge. He returned to work at the quarry for a short period of time until he started his employment with Ferguson Township. He worked on the road crew until his retirement in 2016, after 43 years of service with them.

Dick was a member of the Penns Valley God’s Missionary Church in Spring Mills. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed attending gun shows and car shows. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether he was tending to his vegetable gardens, cutting fire wood, hunting, fishing, or taking his annual trip to Colorado to hunt elk, which started in 1986, he was a happy man. He could be found each Wednesday, hanging out with his buddies, at the Belleville Sale yard and he loved a good flea market. He was a strong willed, tenacious man that was a firm believer in hard work, proper work ethic, and being honest to the core. He lived by example, making sure he lived the life he taught his children, “If you have time to do it a second time, you have time to do it right the first time! If you are not feeling well, get outside, get fresh air, and get to work!” He was a proud veteran, but an even prouder husband, father, and grandfather. His out-of-tune singing wake up calls will be cherished by his children and the memories he leaves behind will forever fill their hearts with love and laughter.

Along with his wife of 49 years, Dick is survived by five children, Sheila A. Reese and her husband, Shawn, of Pine Grove Mills, Sharon L. Lucas and her husband, Frank, of Zion, Stephen E. Grenoble and his wife, Holly, of Centre Hall, Elijah E. Grenoble and his wife, Selena, of Pine Grove Mills, and Jennifer L. Grenoble and her significant other, Travis Carlin, of Pine Grove Mills; 15 grandchildren, Tyler, Brittany, Bethany, and Jacob Reese, Adreanna and Austin Lucas, Rebecca Grove (David), Andrew, Katherine, Daniel, and Emily Grenoble, and Skylar, Samuel, Lily, and Finnley Carlin; one great grandchild on the way; four sisters, Jeanne Auman of Spring Mills, Betty Hayward of Moreno Valley, CA, Bonnie Summers (Daniel) of Duncansville, and Ruth Snyder of Lemont; his brother in-law and sister in-law, Larry and Imilda Mabus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2023, from 5pm – 7pm and on Monday, May 1, 2023, from 10am – 11am at the Penns Valley God’s Missionary Church in Spring Mills.
