Gary L. Bailey, 77, of Port Matilda passed away at his residence on Sunday, April 30, 2023. Gary was born in Philipsburg on February 24, 1946, the son of the late John R. and Thelma A. (Reese) Bailey. On October 2, 1965 he married Connie Schreffler Bailey who survives at home. Gary is also survived by his children, Michael J. Bailey, Jeffrey L. Bailey, Curtis R. Bailey, Leah I. Bailey; his sisters, Nancy Walk, Donna Miller, Carol White, Janet Smith and his 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Clive Umbower and Paul Umbower.
Gary served his country in the U. S. Army Reserves. He enjoyed hunting, making venison bologna, gardening and woodworking. He built the house that he and Connie lived in for over 35 years. He was also know as the Family’s Weather Forecaster, making sure his family knew what the weather was going to be for the day. He was a member of State College Assembly of God. He worked for the United States Postal Service before his retirement.
Services and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
