Gloria Jacqueline Reed Knerr was born August 25, 1931 in Altoona Hospital to Naomi Elizabeth Lantz and Lemuel James Reed, she peacefully passed at a family home in State College PA. January 15, 2024 at the age of 92.
Gloria graduated Altoona High School, and later graduated Hahnemann University as an RN. While working as an RN she met a dashing young resident who would become the love of her life. They were married in 1952 living and loving 62 years until the passing of Dr. Richard Aaron Knerr who went to meet Jesus in 2015 from their home in Sunset Beach NC. They had three children.
Gloria is survived by Lisa C. Knerr Jordan (Mark Jordan,) Cindy M. Knerr Peterson (Nate Peterson) of Virginia and Kathy Knerr daughter in law of Ohio. Steven R. Knerr preceded her to heaven’s shores Nov 2020. Gloria enjoyed spending time with her 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Gloria would say to you today; “If you would like to walk with me in a land of forever summer, simply confess your sins and ask Jesus into your heart and he will live with you forever and we will see one another again.”
Gloria praised Jesus and served and loved whomever she met. Gloria was known for her pure and passionate love for Jesus who she called friend and Savior. If you called Gloria over the years she would answer the phone; “Praise the Lord.” Gloria knew no strangers. Dick and Gloria often opened their home to people needing a place to live. They enjoyed square dancing and Bible studies. Their faith families over the years included SC Christian Church, SC Assembly of God, Snow Shoe Methodist Church, Andrew’s Chapel Calabash NC and SC Access church and all who loved Jesus. Amen
