Janet Dietz passed away on Sunday, May 23,2021 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center. She was born May 13, 1939 in Mingoville to S.M. and Esther Dunkle Lowery who predeceased her. On February 24,1958 she married Kenneth S. Dietz who survives at home. Janet is also survived by a son, Jason, his wife Deirdre, and grandson Conor. She is also survived by a brother, John ( Marjorie) Lowery, and a sister Elaine Hastings.
Janet was a graduate of Bellefonte High School. She was a long term employee of The Pennsylvania State University retiring in 1999 as associate director of Penn State Press.
In her younger years, she enjoyed water skiing and cross-country snow skiing. In retirement, she and Ken loved to travel to the top of the highest mountains, be it by cog railway to Pikes Peak, Colorado, and Mt. Washington, New Hampshire, or by plane to Denali, AK. Janet was an amateur astronomer and was continually seeking dark skies. In winters, Janet could be found riding her bicycle on St. George Island, FL. Most of all, she and Ken enjoyed spending time with their son and his family.
