Mary Jane “Janie” Davidson, 91, of Bellefonte, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on March 16, 1933, in Bellefonte, to the late Joe A. and Mary (Kirko) Basalla. On June 5, 1954, at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church she married her beloved husband, Paul E. Davidson, who preceded her in death on March 29, 2023, after sharing 68 years of marriage. 


Janie worked for the family business Davidson Brothers Inc., for over 35 years until she retired. She and her husband Paul and son, Randy, enjoyed weekends spent at camp. Janie enjoyed playing cards and going to bingo with her family and friends. If you knew Janie, you know she loved to gamble! She traveled to many casinos throughout the years and was always ready for her next adventure. Janie and Paul enjoyed spending their winters in Sarasota Florida, surrounded by their dearest friends. 
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte. 


Janie is survived by her son, Randy Davidson (Dawn) of Runville, two grandchildren, Andrew Davidson of Bellefonte, Lauryn Bostdorf (Cory) of Milesburg, and one great grandson, Tate Bostdorf. Also surviving are her two sisters, Rose Granite of Clarence and Patricia Holden of Philipsburg. 


In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by her four siblings, Joe Jr., Robert, and David Basalla, and Pauline Verbiak. 


There will be a public viewing held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 5-7pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte, with a wake service to be held at 6:30pm, with Deacon Tom Boldin officiating. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 11am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte, with Father Brian Saylor officiating. Burial will follow at Centre County Memorial Park, State College. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
