Michael L. Bittinger, 53, of rural Julian, passed away on Sunday March 7, 2021 at home. Mike was born on May 4, 1967 in Lewistown a son of the late David W. Morgan and Helen Brown Gasper. In 2010 he married Kathryn “Katie” Barton Bittinger who survives at home. Also surviving is his daughter Amber Bittinger of CO and his son, Jacob Bittinger of Marysville, WA; his siblings, Cindy Peters of Bellefonte, Brian Bittinger of Port Matilda, Jeff Bittinger of Downingtown, John Gasper, Sue Gasper and JoAnn Gasper all of Snow Shoe. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Emily Rossman and his brothers, Timothy Bittinger and David Bittinger.
Mike proudly served in the US Army after high school. He then went on to college. He had worked at several manufacturing and quality control jobs through the years. Mike moved back to PA from Washington in 2007 after reuniting with his high school sweetheart, Katie whom he married in 2010. He was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed camping, working outside, tinkering and tending to his beloved dogs.
Mike struggled with several medical conditions that were diagnosed after returning to PA. Just recently he found out he had stage 4 Hepatocellular Carcinoma. Sadly his fight was short. Mike said he did not fear dying. “I was troubled by the thought of who was left behind. Most importantly, Katie. Leaving her heart broken and alone. I know there will be family and friends to comfort her, but emptiness will remain. I ask that everyone will love, comfort and support Katie in any and every way. I know she’s a strong woman. I saw it when we went through the loss of Emily. Katie, I love you with all my heart. Forever, Bubbers.”
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
