Alice Mae McLaughlin, 94, a resident of Centre Hall, passed from this life at Susque-View Nursing Home in Lock Haven on her 94th birthday. Born on August 24, 1920 in Nuangola, Luzerne County, PA, Mae was the daughter of the late William and Alice (Vandermark) Balliet. She was a 1938 graduate of Fairview High School. On December 7, 1943, Mae was united in marriage to Frederick F. McLaughlin, who preceded her in death on September 6, 2002.

Mae a homemaker, devoted her time to raising and caring for her family. She was member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Aaronsburg, where she was involved with the ladies quilting group. Mae was an avid “Double 12” domino player, spending hours with Marlene Corl and Kay Brown, her domino playmates. Above all else, Mae loved to spend time with her girls and grand kids, especially at their annual Thanksgiving – Christmas craft time.

Mae is survived by two daughters, Elaine S. Muthersbaugh (Eugene) of Centre Hall and Pamela J. Gingrich (David) of Beech Creek; seven grandchildren, Susan McCarthy, Frederick Harlos, Rebecca Strouse, Jeff and Robin Muthersbaugh, and Adam and Phillip Homan. Also surviving are six great grandchildren, Bradley and Tara Harlos, Talon, Tristan, and Malina Homan and Luke McCarthy. Mae was preceded in death by one daughter Sharon M. McLaughlin as well as her siblings, Violet, William, Allen, Edward and Fred.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 28th from 6-8 pm at the Salem Lutheran Church in Aaronsburg. Funeral services will be held at the church on Friday, August 29th at 11:00 am with Rev. Russell Sauerwein officiating. Mae will be laid to rest, next to the love of her life, in Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Aaronsburg.
