Helen Bokach, 87, of State College, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at The Fairways at Brookline Village.
Born July 15, 1923, in Denbo, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Anna Kovach Bokach. Following the death of her father, she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Andrew Strizak.
She is survived by two sisters, Margaret Stefanko, of State College, and Irene S. Pollock, of Willoughby, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-niece and nephews.
She was a member of The Nativity of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Philipsburg where she served on the Ladies Guild. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Michael and Peter Bokach, a sister, Mary Lozak, and a nephew, Dr. John Lozak. She was an assistant librarian with the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at Penn State, for many years. She retired from Penn State on July 1, 1989.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Panachida, with funeral service, will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at The Nativity of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Philipsburg with the Very Reverend John Horosky officiating. Divine Liturgy will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Masontown with the Very Reverend Mark Leasure, officiating. Interment will follow immediately thereafter in Mount St. Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown.
