Panera Bread will replace all four Au Bon Pain locations on Penn State’s University Park campus in the fall, according to a university news release.

The Au Bon Pain cafes in the Kern Building, Zoller Gallery, Westgate Building and Katz Building will close for remodeling on June 18 and reopen as Panera during the fall semester, on a date to be announced.

Online ordering and rapid pickup will be available at the Kern Building Panera.

St. Louis-based Panera acquired Au Bon Pain and its 300 locations in November 2017, five months after Panera was purchased by JAB Holding Company.

“We’re excited about welcoming Panera to campus,” David Gingher, Penn State’s director of campus retail dining, said in the release. “Everyone knows Panera and their variety of healthy options. I think it will be a great brand to have at Penn State.”

Panera already operates two full-sized locations in the State College area at 148 S. Allen St. and 1613 N. Atherton St.
