Penn State Centre Stage is set to return to live theater on Wednesday, Sept. 1, with a new event that will combine live performances and a glimpse backstage, the organization announced on Thursday.

“The Revival” is a dual event that’ll take place at the Playhouse Theater and the Olsan-Stone Terrace. It will give audiences the opportunity enjoy live performances and refreshments and have conversations with directors, designers and students.

On-Stage VIP Dinner with sneak preview tickets cost $100, while sneak preview with light refreshment tickets will go for $35 each.

“After all the challenges of the last 18 months, we are thrilled to be able to welcome our loyal patrons and community back to Centre Stage,” Rick Lombardo, the producing artistic director of Centre Stage and director of the School of Theatre, said.

Additionally, Penn State Centre Stage is slated to produce six shows at the newly-renovated Playhouse and Pavilion theatres during the 2021-22 season. The shows include:

  • “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” by Mark Haddon and Simon Stephens, directed by Rick Lombardo, September 28 to October 9
  • “The Wild Party,” by Andrew Lippa, directed by Alison Morooney, November 2 to 14
  • “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” by William Shakespeare, directed by Sam Osheroff, November 30 to December 9
  • “Nostalgia Night,” by Sofya-Levitsky-Weitz and Matthew McCollum, directed by John Simpkins, February 8 to 19
  • “Blood at the Root,” by Dominic Morisseau, directed by Steve H. Broadnax III, March 22 to April 2
  • “Brigadoon,” by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe, directed by Jennifer Delac, April 12 to 23

The cost of admission for the six shows is $18.50 for adults and $12.50 for students. Tickets for all shows, including “The Revival”, go on sale July 15 and can be purchased by calling (814) 863-0255. Additionally, you can save 10% if you buy tickets to four or more shows.
