Penn State football added one more member to its recruiting Class of 2022 on Wednesday.
Three-star offensive lineman Vega Ioane, from Graham, Washington, announced his decision to sign with the Nittany Lions over Washington and Minnesota, among 11 other offers. Wednesday was the second National Signing Day, with Penn State having inked the bulk of its class during the first signing day in December.
Ioane played for Graham-Kapowsin High School in Washington. A star on both sides of the ball, he finished as the No. 8 prospect, according to 247 Sports. Checking in at 6-foot-4, 320-pound offensive lineman, he is also rated the No. 18 interior offensive lineman in the nation.
He announced his decision during Penn State coach James Franklin’s signing day press conference. Franklin called the latest addition to his 2022 class “a high-level offensive lineman” who “will have the opportunity to come in and compete early on in his career.”
Ioane received a number of other offers from mostly Pac-12 schools. Other notable offers that Ioane racked up include Arizona, Arizona State, and USC.
Tyrece Mills also made his commitment to Penn State official on Wednesday. The safety out of Lackawanna College used the February Signing Day to put pen to paper and join the Nittany Lions.
With this pair of late commitments, the Nittany Lions now have 25 players joining their Class of 2022, including nine early enrollees. Penn State also added transfer wideout Mitchell Tinsley from Western Kentucky in December.
