Penn State football single game tickets went on sale to the general public Thursday morning as the Nittany Lions sit less than a month from their season opener against Wisconsin in Madison. With tickets now out among the general public, that means the secondary market will begin to form as the season draws closer.
And as you might expect, Penn State’s Week 3 meeting against Auburn isn’t going to be a cheap seat. As of Thursday afternoon, the lowest get-in price for two tickets was $400 each, a single-game ticket well over $500 on Ticketmaster. Both of those figures will likely drop.
How things shake out in the coming weeks will be interesting to watch for those looking to sneak into a few games this year without buying season tickets. The good news, of course, is that most of the Nittany Lions’ home contests come with a much more manageable price attached to them.
The Auburn ticket – assuming it stays that high – would be among the most expensive preseason tickets for a game at Beaver Stadium by a pretty wide margin. In July of 2017 a ticket to the Michigan game was the most expensive at the time, topping out at $138.
This year the return of fans to Beaver Stadium might have bumped prices up a bit with fans eager to get back into a one-of-a-kind stadium experience. Two secondary market tickets to see Penn State face Michigan this year will run you $175 each.
Thankfully for fans looking for a more budget-friendly option, pretty much ever game the rest of the season clocks in with a much more manageable price.
Ticketmaster cost for two resale tickets:
- Ball State: $35
- Auburn: $400
- Villanova: $40
- Indiana: $55
- Illinois: $55
- Michigan: $175
- Rutgers: $35
For comparison here are prices from previous seasons [for whatever reason I failed to do this story in 2019, because that would have been entirely too helpful, but ticket prices were comparable to previous seasons listed below.] It’s also worth noting that traditionally the secondary market has far longer to settle – months – while tickets this season are up for grabs far later in the summer than usual.
