Police, Coroner’s Office Investigating Death of Penn State Student

A Penn State student who had been reported missing was found dead on Friday morning, according to State College police.

Preliminary information indicates the death was accidental, police said in a statement. Police and the Centre County Coroner’s Office are investigating.

The 19-year-old, identified by the university as Justine Gross, was last seen on Wednesday night and was reported missing on Thursday night.

“We are heartbroken for the family and friends of Justine Gross and offer our condolences to all who knew and loved her,” university spokesperson Lisa Powers wrote in an email. “Penn State staff In Student Affairs and beyond are offering assistance to family and acquaintances who are mourning this loss.”

Family members wrote on social media that Gross lived off campus at Beaver Terrace apartments in State College.
