Sheetz will open its 11th Centre County store next week.

The convenience store, restaurant and gas station at 3261 W. College Ave. in Ferguson Township is set to open on Wednesday, Sept. 29, according to a news release. It will be the seventh Sheetz store in the State College area.

Located on a portion of former Harner Farm property at the Whitehall Road intersection, the 6,077-square foot store will be the second in the county to have a drive-through. It also will have 12 fuel pumps and a 1,048-square-foot car wash.

As with most of its other Centre County locations, Sheetz will sell beer at the store, a spokesperson previously told StateCollege.com.

Access to the property will be available from College Avenue and Whitehall Road.

The location will have the Altoona-based company’s newest store design.

“That design features a more open floor plan and enhanced convenience and restaurant features,” spokesman Nick Ruffner said earlier this year.

As part of the grand opening, Sheetz will donate $2,500 to the Central Pennsylvania Food Banks, which serves 27 counties across central Pennsylvania, and $2,500 to the the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania.

Ferguson Township supervisors approved land development plans for the new Sheetz in April 2020 and initial construction work began last fall.

The site is a part of the 71.9-acres of former Harner Farm property that was rezoned for commercial and residential use in 2018 following a request from the Harners and developer Aspen Whitehall Partners.

The property, which is surrounded by commercial and residential development, is within the regional growth boundary, and since 2000, it has been designated as mixed-use in the regional comprehensive plan land use map.

Aspen Whitehall completed the purchase of the 71.9 acres in November 2018 for $5.6 million. The developer intends to have mix of single- and multi-family residential, retail and office space.

In addition to the completed Sheetz, work recently began nearby on Orchard View, a development of 36 semi-custom three-to-five bedroom homes.

Aspen Whitehall also submitted plans to the township in August for Orchard Square. Located next to the new Sheetz a one-floor, 19,854-square-foot shopping center that will have three storefronts.

Plans for the remaining land have not yet been submitted.

The Harners are keeping 33 acres of farmland owned by their family since 1945 for downsized fruit and produce production and their farm store.
