Starting today (Oct. 11), shoppers in the State College and Bellefonte areas can get same-day delivery from Weis Markets through membership service Shipt.

Shipt also is expanding Weis delivery in a number of other East Coast markets, including Reading, Stroudsburg, Sunbury, Williamsport and York in Pennsylvania.

“We are steadily expanding our Shipt partnership to all of our markets,” said Ron Bonacci, vice president of advertising and marketing for Weis Markets, said in a news release. “Ultimately, we are offering our customers more choices and convenience with online ordering through our Shipt partnership. We expect this to grow and compliment our in-store offering.”

Founded in 2014, Shipt allows shoppers to browse, search and shop online for an assortment of in-store products. Members can choose preferences, select a delivery window and pay for groceries and household items through the Shipt website or app. The membership fee is regularly $99 for a year and allows free delivery on all orders of $35 or more.

“Through our app, our members have access to everything they need, when they need it, right at their fingertips,’ said Bill Smith, Shipt founder and CEO.

To see if Shipt delivery is available in your neighborhood, you can enter your zipcode at www.shipt.com.

Shipt/Weis joins Instacart as a grocery delivery service in the State College area. Instacart offers delivery for Wegmans and Giant, as well as Sam’s Club, CVS and Petco.
